How foreclosure sales work in Kaufman County
Kaufman County follows the statewide calendar for trustee sales: auctions under a deed of trust are held on the first Tuesday of each month, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the spot the Commissioners Court has designated at or near the courthouse in Kaufman. Bidding is public and usually cash or certified funds.
The Kaufman County Clerk is the official record keeper: each notice of sale has to be filed there and posted at the courthouse 21 or more days ahead of the auction. Tax-foreclosure auctions follow a court judgment and are handled by the sheriff or a constable, not a trustee.
A posted notice is not a guarantee of an auction. Loans get reinstated, sales are postponed, and notices are re-filed for a later month; whatever sells is sold as is, without warranties.
