How foreclosure sales work in Fort Bend County
Foreclosure auctions in Fort Bend County are set by state law rather than by each lender. Texas Property Code §51.002 puts non-judicial trustee sales on the first Tuesday of the month, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the area designated by the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court in Richmond.
Notices must be filed with the Fort Bend County Clerk and posted at least 21 days before the first-Tuesday sale. Property-tax sales in Fort Bend County are a separate process run by the sheriff or a constable after a court judgment.
Expect churn. A large share of noticed properties are cancelled or postponed before auction day, and buyers at a trustee sale take the property as is, usually without access to the inside.
