How foreclosure sales work in Bexar County
Bexar County follows the statewide calendar for trustee sales: auctions under a deed of trust are held on the first Tuesday of each month, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the spot the Commissioners Court has designated at or near the courthouse in San Antonio. Bidding is public and usually cash or certified funds.
At least 21 days before a sale the notice of trustee sale must be posted at the courthouse and filed with the Bexar County Clerk, which makes the clerk the official source. The clerk publishes posted notices online here: Bexar County foreclosure notices. Property-tax sales are separate: they come from a court judgment and are run by the sheriff or a constable, also usually on the first Tuesday; 16 tax-sale notices for Bexar County are in this week's data.
A posted notice is not a guarantee of an auction. Loans get reinstated, sales are postponed, and notices are re-filed for a later month; whatever sells is sold as is, without warranties.
Due-diligence tip: treat any list, including ours, as a starting point. Read the full notice at the Bexar County Clerk, look for other liens and back taxes, drive by the property, and verify the sale status with the trustee before auction day.
