About Georgia tax sales
Georgia sheriff and tax-commissioner sales take place on the first Tuesday of each month, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., at the courthouse or the place named in the notice (O.C.G.A. 9-13-161 and 48-4-1). Each levy is advertised once a week for the four weeks before the sale in the county legal organ, and the county publishes its list online. Each county page links to that official list.
The buyer receives a tax deed. On a regular sale the former owner can usually redeem for at least 12 months by paying the bid plus a premium; judicial in rem sales have a shorter 60-day period. Georgia mortgage foreclosures (also first-Tuesday sales) are published in county newspapers and are not yet in our data; more coming.
