How foreclosure sales work in Jefferson County

Kentucky foreclosures go through circuit court. After judgment, the Jefferson County Master Commissioner has the property appraised, advertises it and sells it at public auction. Buyers usually pay 10% down with the balance on a 30-day bond.

If the price is under two-thirds of the appraisal, the debtor can redeem within six months, and every sale needs court confirmation. Sales are often withdrawn, so confirm the date with the Master Commissioner shortly before the sale.

Our Kentucky data comes from Master Commissioner sale lists. It does not yet include every county; more coming.
