How tax deed sales work in Orange County
Florida counties sell tax certificates on unpaid property taxes. If a certificate stays unredeemed, the holder can apply for a tax deed and the Orange County clerk or comptroller sells the property at a public online auction to the highest bidder (Fla. Stat. ch. 197).
The owner can redeem up to the moment of sale, so sales are often cancelled. Homestead property has a higher minimum bid, and some liens, such as government liens, can survive the sale. Check the official sale record and title before you bid.
Our Florida data comes from openly published county GIS data. It covers tax deed sales only; Florida mortgage foreclosures are court sales and are not in our data yet. More counties coming.
This is general information, not legal, financial or investment advice. Talk to a Florida real-estate attorney before you bid.

Orange County tax deed FAQ
When is the next tax deed sale in Orange County, Florida?
The next scheduled sale date in our data is October 29, 2026. Orange County tax deed sales are held as online auctions run by the clerk or comptroller, usually on set weekdays each month.
How does a Florida property reach a tax deed sale?
When Florida property taxes go unpaid, the county sells a tax certificate. After at least two years the certificate holder can apply for a tax deed, and the clerk then advertises the property once a week for four weeks and sells it at public auction (Fla. Stat. 197.502 and 197.542).
Can the owner still stop a Florida tax deed sale?
Yes. The owner or any lienholder can redeem by paying the amount due to the clerk at any time before the sale is completed (Fla. Stat. 197.472), so many listed sales are cancelled. The opening bid is set by the clerk shortly before the sale.
How many tax deed sales are listed in Orange County right now?
As of October 26, 2026 there are 84 active tax deed sales with an upcoming sale date. Orlando has the most (73).
